Liza Pike is the New Media Mentors Project Director. Liza was also the founder of Resource Media’s California office in 1998, where she helped shape the overall growth and direction of the organization and was Lead Strategist on a number of campaigns and projects. Prior to joining Resource Media, Liza was a Press Officer for the Natural Resources Defense Council in San Francisco and worked with the Center for Investigative Reporting as Program and Marketing Director and in other capacities.
Elana Levin is Program Director at New Media Mentors and Director of Trainings at Netroots Nation. Since 2005 Elana has been a digital strategist for labor unions, nonprofits and grassroots campaigns. Elana has taught digital and narrative strategy to organizers througout their entire career. In 2009, Levin co-founded Organizing 2.0, the leading online organizing conference and year-round training hub for nonprofits and unions in the New York area training thousands of organization staff, members and activists.
Most recently Elana served as Director of Online Organizing for the immigrant lead community organization Make the Road. Previously, Levin served as Director of Communications at the Writers Guild of America, East and ran digital for Workers United SEIU and UNITE HERE as their Assistant Director of Communications.
Elana has also worked at the intersection of popular culture and online organizing not just as a trainer and consultant but as the host of the Graphic Policy Radio podcast. Their work connect nonprofits with pop culture creators and fans and helps organizations apply the lessons of storytelling to the fight for social and economic justice.
